Life on Other Planets
(L.o.O.P.)
analog meets astral
L.o.O.P. is a Berlin-based live electronic ensemble weaving hypnotic soundscapes at the intersection of retrofuturism, 70s psychedelia, and contemporary club culture.
No computers. No playlists. No expectations.
We transport club and festival audiences out of known space, with an improvised voyage through deep, hypnotic, and mesmerizing dance music, all created in real-time through a constellation of hardware and acoustic instruments: drum machine, synths, electric cello, flute, vocals, loopers, and effects.
what is ‘live’ ?
In an era of meticulously programmed DJ and live performances, L.o.O.P. offers something rare: genuine musical spontaneity and risk-taking. No two performances are the same.
Our spaceship's crew features James Fish (drum machine, synths), DAEDE (vocals, flute, effects), and Simon Hoffmann (cello), regularly joined by a rotating cast of guest cosmonauts. Each performance is a unique dialogue between musicians and audience, and a journey with an unknown destination.
recent transmissions
Since our 2024 launch, we've beamed signals to species of all kinds at the Naked Tea Party, Studio DB, Artistania, 90mil, and GIRI Berlin.

James Fish // navigation
DRUM MACHINE
Live act, DJ, producer, and community organizer - in every role James Fish (he/him) plays, he uses music to break boundaries. Raised in a Black & Asian-American family, James completed his studies on the sociology of mixed-race at Harvard University in 2010. His tenure as a DJ in San Francisco included regular appearances at Public Works, a residency at the legendary Tutu Tuesday party, and direct support for acts such as Francesca Lombardo, Hoj, Kalabrese, Tara Brooks, Oona Dahl, Atish, and Acid Pauli. In Berlin, he has played live and DJ sets at Garbicz, Kater Blau, Kit Kat and more. As a producer, he recently released his debut EP on KANTO Records, featuring remixes from Acid Pauli and Karma Whiff. James has co-founded events collectives on three continents, including Resonance, a community of mutual support by and for emerging musicians organizing creative retreats, showcases, and learning opportunities in Berlin.
DAEDE // communication
Laura Daedelow (she/her), aka DAEDE, is an electronic music producer based in Berlin. The multi-instrumentalist is part of Resonance Music Community and worked with TOYS founder Asa 808 and infamous Nina Hagen. Her tracks found DJ support from established names such as Avalon Emerson and Âme (Innervisions). As a DJ she has played at Paloma Bar (Berlin) and Kunsthalle Neukölln with sets that oscillate between techno & house, UK breakbeat & indie dance and had radio shows on Swu.FM and FluxFM. DAEDE was part of all-female indie-pop band CHILDREN (alumni of Musicboard Berlin), produced and released records (e.g. on Grönland Records) and toured Germany playing venues like Berghain Kantine and festivals like Fusion Festival and Reeperbahn Festival. With a PhD in psychology, DAEDE is interested in the interplay of music, altered states of consciousness and community-based interventions.
Simon Hoffmann // engineering
Simon Hoffmann (he/him) is a Berlin-based cellist and multi-instrumentalist bending the line between classical, acoustic and electronic music. As a member of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra from 2014 to 2021 he performed globally on stages like Carnegie Hall and Berliner Philharmonie. During his worldwide touring schedule he launched two electronics-forward projects: Frozen Fields in New York City and OPTN in Tel Aviv — both wiring cello and improvisation directly into production workflows. Back in Berlin, Simon multiplies that practice across new formats, including Mohobrac, a hardware-centric outfit exploring club-oriented, industrial-leaning techno. He also performs with Berlin’s improv theater group Die Gorillas.
